A Cornwall man has been charged with first-degree murder after his mother was found dead inside a home with "visible trauma" that was determined to be stab wounds on Monday morning, police said.

Const. Dan Cloutier said that Jacqueline Martin, 52, had no vital signs when she was discovered around 9 a.m. at a home on Carleton Street.

Jonathan Michaud, 28, was arrested and charged with murder on Monday.

Cloutier said Monday there are "possible witnesses" that police intend to interview.

Michaud was expected to appear in court for a bail hearing on Tuesday, police said.
