Driver hits house trying to escape police on Islington
One man is in custody after leading Toronto police on a brief pursuit before he hit an Etobicoke home.
At some point during the pursuit, police also shot at the suspect.
Police said charges are pending against the driver, who was transported to hospital with minor injuries and later released into custody. It's unclear if the man was shot or if he was injured in the collision.
The pursuit, which ended on a lawn near Islington Ave. and Evans Ave., began when police pulled the man over on Islington around midnight. According to police, when they began questioning the suspect he drove away through a park and eventually lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle, a silver SUV, then crashed into a house.
A police car was also damaged during the incident.
