Nova Scotia gas prices below $1 for first time since 2010

For the first time in more than four years, the price of gasoline is below a dollar per litre.

Regular unleaded gasoline is selling in Halifax for 97.5 cents, a drop of more than four cents over last week.

The last time regular gasoline was below $1 per litre was the week of Aug. 27, 2010.

Taxi driver Clarence Webb spoke with the CBC’s Catharine Tunney about the price break.

“It’s about time. With the cost of living and the economy, we do certainly need it,” he says.

Webb says he spends between $150 and $200 every week on gas. He says the money he saves will be used for Christmas presents.

Diesel is down by 1.1 cent, selling for $1.134 per litre.
