RCMP find missing Ponoka man alive

RCMP in Ponoka have found the 64-year-old man missing from a geriatric psychiatry centre in the central Alberta town alive in a field.

Ponoka RCMP officers with the assistance of RCMP Edmonton Air Services, Ponoka Fire Department and Police Dog Services found Allan Entwistle at approximately 2 p.m. today, in a field approximately about a kilometre from where he went missing. He was found in a field suffering from exposure due to the amount of time he'd been outside.

"Allan had found refuge in the gully of a large field and due to our air services capability, we were able to locate him in a seclude area which would have not been as easily seen from the ground," said Cameron Chisholm, Ponoka RCMP Detachment Commande in a statement.

Entwistle, 64, had gone missing on April 11 from the Centennial Centre in Ponoka, which is about 50 kilometres northeast of Red Deer.

Entwistle is reported to be well and has been taken to hospital for examination.
