Preliminary inquiry in Baby Taylor case set for July
A Riverview woman charged with attempted murder in the 2009 death of a newborn known as Baby Taylor will face a preliminary inquiry in July.
Christine Wood, 31, is also charged with concealing the body of a child, and causing an indignity to a dead human body or human remains.
A newborn's body was discovered in a snowbank along Taylor Road on April 4, 2009. The anonymous baby became known as Baby Taylor and the community rallied around him, holding a funeral service for him that was attended by 200 people.
RCMP allege Wood disposed of her baby's body on or about Dec. 13, 2008, with the intent to hide the fact she had given birth to him.
Wood, who previously elected to be tried by judge alone in the Court of Queen's Bench, was not present in Moncton provincial court on Tuesday.
The preliminary inquiry will determine if there's enough evidence to proceed to trial.
It is slated to begin on July 7. Four days have been set aside.
Wood remains released on bail on several conditions, including keeping the peace and alerting authorities if she changes her address.
