There are 12 undefeated football teams remaining in the Fort Worth-area. Who will run the table?

With every week of Texas high school football that goes by, there are less and less undefeated teams.

We’re through week six of the season, and 12 undefeated high schools remain in the Fort Worth-area. Will any of these teams reach the 2023 State Championship games played at AT&T Stadium? Time will tell.

Here are the 12 teams with flawless records.

North Crowley

Head coach Ray Gates and the North Crowley Panthers (5-0, 2-0 District 3-6A) are dominating the competition. They started District 3-6A play with a 62-0 win over Paschal and a 53-31 victory over Trinity.

The Panthers haven’t lost a district game since October 2021, the season prior to Gates’ hiring. How far will they go? Last year, they fell to Prosper 35-21 in the 6A-D1 Regional Semifinal.

Now, quarterback Chris Jimerson is leading an offense full of weapons that has a whole lot of momentum. For now, the biggest threat remaining on the schedule is Crowley, but they shouldn’t overlook Saginaw Boswell on Friday; the Panthers will face the Pioneers at 7 p.m. CT at Boswell High School.

Crowley

The Crowley Eagles (5-0, 2-0 District 3-6A) have had a phenomenal year-to-year turnaround. After winning four games in 2022, newly hired head coach Carlos Lynn took over. Now, the Eagles have already topped last seasons’ win total, showcasing some serious heart.

They weren’t projected to be in this position, but they’re still here. Quarterback Caleb Williams, in the four games he has started, is averaging 327.75 yards of total offense per game.

The good news for the Eagles is that they have two manageable games up next. On Friday at 7:30 p.m. CT, they’ll take on Fort Worth Chisholm trail. Next week, they’ll face the struggling Paschal Panthers.

Can Crowley threaten North Crowley as the top team in District 3-6A?

Southlake Carroll

Every season, the Southlake Carroll Dragons’ (5-0, 2-0 District 4-6A) goal is to “protect the tradition.” Part of that tradition is playing winning football; head coach Riley Dodge and Co. are certainly doing that.

Quarterback Graham Knowles, a Virginia Tech commit, and wide receiver Jason Jordan, an Oklahoma commit, are the most effective dynamic duo in all of Fort Worth football. The Dragons aren’t just beating opponents. They’re dominating them, winning by an average of 42 points.

Although Southlake Carroll is the clear standout in District 4-6A, two teams have the firepower to, potentially, put up somewhat of a fight: Keller and Trophy Club Nelson. The Dragons will face the Indians at Keller ISD Stadium on Thursday with a 7 p.m. CT kickoff.

Keller

Speaking of the Keller Indians, (5-0, 2-0 District 4-6A) they’re also undefeated. Before last week’s bye, they cruised to a 35-8 victory against Keller Central, and star wide receiver Tré Griffiths, an Oklahoma State commit, tallied 192 yards and two touchdowns.

This week starts a challenging, brutal stretch for the Indians. They’re going to have to bring the fight to take down Southlake Carroll on Friday. If Keller pulls off the upset to stay undefeated, they’ll have the Trophy Club Nelson Bobcats waiting the following week.

Trophy Club Nelson

Another District 4-6A undefeated team? The Trophy Club Nelson Bobcats (5-0, 2-0 District 4-6A) are a deep, versatile team. They’re allowing an average of 11.8 points per game, proving they have a top defense in the area. With the amount of defensive talent on the roster, that was expected from the start.

The offense is a different story. They’ve surpassed expectations and have matched the defense’s firepower. Quarterback Tom Van Grote and running back Tucker James are leading the way; the duo has 29 combined total touchdowns.

The Bobcats will face Haltom on Friday. They’ll play at the Birdville Athletic Complex, and the game will begin at 7 p.m. CT.

Mansfield

Mansfield (5-0, 2-0 District 11-6A) was able to sneak away with hard fought victories against Mansfield Legacy and Mansfield Lake Ridge. Although the Tigers are undefeated, it would be a miracle if they avoided a loss in District 11-6A with matchups with Duncanville and DeSoto down the line.

They fell in the first round of the playoffs last season. Can they put up a better showing this year? The offensive line has been paving the way for an effective ground game; the Tigers are rushing for 251 yards per game on their way to putting up 41.4 total points per game.

They’ve got an away matchup with Cedar Hill on Friday with a 7 p.m. CT start time.

Aledo

The Aledo Bearcats (6-0, 4-0 District 3-5A D1) have won 115 consecutive district games, and it doesn’t look like the streak will be snapped anytime soon. The Bearcats, frankly, have a different challenge and expectations than other undefeated squads.

Finishing the regular season with an undefeated record is expected. The real challenge would be to finish the season and the playoffs with an flawless record.

Hauss Hejny, the Star-Telegram’s Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, and the Bearcats will hit the road to attempt to extend their historic streak at 7 p.m. Thursday against the winless Fort Worth South Hills Scorpions.

Burleson Centennial

The Burleson Centennial Spartans (5-0, 3-0 District 3-5A D1) have had a phenomenal season thus far. In the next two weeks, they’ll face two tough challenges: Denton Ryan and Aledo.

The Spartans, the No. 3 Class 5A team in the Fort Worth-area, are putting up 35.6 points per game and haven’t allowed more than 14 points. It’s not likely, but if anyone can shock Aledo before the playoffs, it’s the Spartans.

Last season, Burleson Centennial escaped with a 7-point victory over Denton Ryan. They’ll face the Raiders at Billy Ryan High School on Friday at 7 p.m. CT.

Mansfield Timberview

The Mansfield Timberview Wolves (6-0, 4-0 District 5-5A D1) were great last season, and they’ve reloaded with newly promoted head coach Robby DeSanto, who used to be the offensive coordinator. Their biggest threat in the regular season is Richland, who they’ll face in late October.

They’re the No. 2 team in the Fort Worth Star-Telegrams’ rankings for good reason; no opponent has been able to finish a game with a deficit of less than 19. The Wolves are averaging 486 yards per game with star quarterback Zuric Humes leading the offense.

This week, Mansfield Timberview will face Dallas Molina on Friday at 7 p.m. CT in a District 5-5A D1 road game.

Richland

Richland (5-0, 3-0 District 5-5A D1) has won close and they’ve won big. One thing is clear: the Royals are continuing to improve week by week.

Richland’s offense is packed with talent. Offensive lineman Daniel Cruz, a Texas commit and the Star-Telegrams’ No. 2 player to watch, and running back Michael Turner are powering the ground game; Turner, a junior, is 247Sports’ top class of 2025 recruit in the Fort Worth-area.

The Royals, on Friday, will face Carrollton Turner at Standridge Stadium. The contest will commence at 7 p.m. CT.

Paradise

In Class 3A, Paradise (6-0, 2-0 District 4-3A D1) has cruised through the first six games of the season, winning by an average of 38.5 points. Last year, they lost to Brock and Whitesboro in the later half of district play.

Will they suffer the same fate this season? Both Brock and Whitesboro suffered three early season losses. If there’s any year for Paradise to run the table, it’s this one.

This Friday at 7:30 p.m. CT, Paradise will face Boyd, a team that has yet to record a win, in a road matchup.

Argyle Liberty Christian

Argyle Liberty Christian (5-0, 0-0 TAPPS DII District 1) has improved every year since the start of head coach Jason Witten’s tenure as head coach in 2021. Now, the Warriors are at the top of private school football in Fort Worth.

The Warriors avenged their 2022 loss to the Episcopal School of Dallas. They didn’t just secure a victory; Argyle Liberty Christian shut out the Eagles, beating them 31-0 and making a statement.

The Warriors will take on Fort Worth Christian at home in a ranked area matchup this Friday with a 7 p.m. CT start time.
