A 14-year-old is dead from gunfire after being dropped off at Fire Station in Columbus

A 14-year-old male is dead after being dropped off with at least one gunshot wound at a Columbus fire station, according to Columbus Police and the coroner’s office.

Officials say the victim was dropped off at Fire Station 6 on Brown Avenue with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was then transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead, police say.

The victim has since been identified as 14-year-old Jayden Tate, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan. Bryan said the victim was pronounced dead at 3:27 p.m.
