In June 2024, Deadline announced Jennifer Carpenter will join the season 2 cast in a recurring role. The Dexter star will play Mamie Fossett, "a highly capable U.S. Deputy Marshall who serves warrants and makes arrests with confidence ahead of her time," per the outlet.

According to the official logline, the plot for season 2 of 1923 is as follows: "With harsh conditions and adversaries threatening to end the Dutton legacy, Spencer embarks on an arduous journey home, racing against time to save his family in Montana. Meanwhile, Alexandra sets off on her own harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find Spencer and reclaim their love."

Season 1 of 1923 culminated in a fight between Hank (Michael Greyeyes) and Teonna (Aminah Nieves). While Teonna survived the battle, it’s still unclear if she will manage to evade those who are looking for her.

Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) and Alex (Julia Schlaepfer)’s love story also ended in tragedy after the pair encountered Alex’s former fiancé and his family onboard a ship. Spencer entered into a duel with the man, who ultimately died.

The Duttons are also up against a lot, as Whitfield (Timothy Dalton) is focused on tearing down Jacob (Harrison Ford) and Cara (Helen Mirren) as slowly and effectively as possible.
