Two overwintering fires have been discovered in the N.W.T. 's Dehcho region according to NWT Fire.

One fire, FS001, is about one kilometre from Tetcho Lake east of Sambaa K'e.

The second, fire FS002, is located about 23 kilometres from Fort Liard southwest of the Liard River and about 14 kilometres from the British Columbia-N.W.T. border.

Both fires are less than one hectare large and NWT Fire says neither pose any risk risk communities, cabins or infrastructure.

A third holdover fire was discovered Sunday about seven kilometres north of Enterprise. That fire was quickly brought under control the same day it was discovered.

There have been a total of five active fires in the territory, including two near Fort Smith that have already been declared out.

Fort Smith announced Saturday that a fire ban is now in place for the town and no open flames are permitted within municipal boundaries.
