2024 Kentucky Mr. Basketball finalists announced. See all 19 players.

Lexington Catholic’s Tyler Doyle and Lyon County’s Travis Perry were among 19 boys high school basketball players to earn region player of the year honors Friday, and with it a nomination for the sport’s highest individual honor, the 2024 Mr. Basketball award.

Perry, a University of Kentucky signee and the state’s all-time leader in career scoring, broke “King” Kelly Coleman’s record at the Boys’ Sweet 16 last season and has 5,235 points and counting as of Thursday. Perry will no doubt be the favorite for this year’s Mr. Basketball.

But that doesn’t diminish the accomplishments of players like Lexington Catholic’s Doyle, a Bellarmine signee who is averaging 17.0 points per game this season for No. 2 Lexington Catholic, or Harlan County’s Trent Noah, a South Carolina signee who is averaging 29.9 points and 10.3 rebounds.

The boys and girls region players of the year were announced Friday morning by the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation via its social media channels, including Facebook. In conjunction with the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches, the KLEF conducts a survey each year of coaches and media for the region player of the year awards in advance of a separate vote over the next several days for Mr. and Miss Basketball.

Mr. and Miss Basketball and other honors will be announced at the 13th annual Mr. and Miss Kentucky Basketball Awards Ceremony on March 17 at the Griffin Gate Marriott in Lexington.
