24-year-old arrested in fatal Grand Prairie crash, charged with manslaughter, police say
Grand Prairie police have arrested a 24-year-old woman in a Sunday morning crash along Belt Line Road that left one man dead.
Clesiz Leiva faces charges of intoxication manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to a department news release published Monday afternoon. Officials say Leiva crashed into an oncoming vehicle at around 7:20 a.m. after veering out of her lane, killing the driver and injuring a passenger.
Leiva sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital after the crash. She’s currently being held at Grand Prairie Detention Center.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office identified the deceased as 33-year-old Carlos Alberto Arias Vera. Grand Prairie police are still investigating the matter.
