24-year-old woman dies from shooting in eastern Wake County

A 24-year-old woman shot Sunday night near Wendell has died.

Serenity Spencer was found with a gunshot wound when sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting report in the 7000 block of Hodge Road in eastern Wake County at about 10:40 p.m.

She was taken to the hospital, where she died of her injuries, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office said Monday morning.

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the shooting as a homicide.
