Police responded to an ATV crash that claimed the life of a 28-year-old man on Tuesday. (CBC)

A 28-year-old man died after his ATV left the road in the Newfoundland community of Bristol's Hope on Tuesday, according to the RCMP.

In a press release, police said the man's ATV left the road and rolled several times. The driver, who police say was wearing a helmet, was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Police got report of the crash just before 5:30 p.m., according to the release. Harbour Grace RCMP, emergency medical services and members of the Harbour Grace volunteer fire brigade responded to the scene.

Bristol's Hope is located about six kilometres from Carbonear.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
