Four people were injured, one critically, after a three-vehicle crash in Scarborough on Tuesday, Toronto police say.

The crash happened in the intersection of Markham Road and Finch Avenue East. Police were called to the scene at 5:52 p.m.

All four people were taken to hospital, a woman, 37, with life-threatening injuries, and the three others — including a child — with non-life-threatening injuries. In a news release on Wednesday, police said a woman, 24, was driving a grey Nissan Rogue eastbound on Finch Avenue East when she entered the intersection, hitting a northbound yellow Kia Soul. Then, a southbound Mazda CX5 was struck.

Police closed roads in the area as officers investigated the crash, however they were reopened as of 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Toronto Police traffic services unit is continuing to investigate. Officers are urging witnesses to come forward.
