3 SC cities among best places to live in the South in 2023, US News & World Report says

South Carolina has three of the top 25 places to live in the South, a new U.S. News and World Report ranking says.

Myrtle Beach, Greenville and Spartanburg made the list, where municipalities were scored on job market, cost of living, schools, employment prospects, desirability and overall well-being.

The list stated that people were excited to live in Myrtle Beach, which was ninth on the list. With the area growing fast, a separate U.S. News index ranked Myrtle Beach as the most desirable city in the country.

The manufacturing jobs and low cost of living were positives for Greenville, which came in at number 16. Spartanburg was ranked as number 23 for its affordable housing and cheap prices for necessities.

Nearby North Carolina had five entries on the list, while Florida took the cake with seven cities on this ranking.
