47-year-old man drowns in Indian River
A 47-year-old man from Kensington is dead after a boating accident in P.E.I.'s Indian River.
RCMP received the call at about 9:15 p.m.
Island EMS was first on the scene, behind a home on Route 104, and told police the man had been pulled from the water but could not be revived.
The man had been boating with friends and family and after dropping the passengers off he attempted to anchor the boat offshore, RCMP said.
"The water wasn't very deep where he was. He was walking the boat out to anchor it," said RCMP Staff Sgt. Kevin Baillie.
"Whether he got tangled in the rope or tangled in something on the bottom or into the mud or whatever, he got into some distress and obviously went underwater."
The man's companions pulled him from the water and called for an ambulance.
The man was a non-swimmer, said RCMP. Foul play is not suspected.
