7-year-old dies after SUV carrying 15 people inside crashes into pole, Ohio cops say

The family of a 7-year-old girl who died in a vehicle crash in Ohio is asking the driver to turn himself in after he left the scene, news outlets reported.

Dai’Nyla Wray was riding in an SUV carrying 15 people on Sunday, Sept. 3, in Cleveland when the driver lost control and crashed into a pole, WEWS reported.

Dai’Naya was one of 11 children inside the vehicle, according to WEWS.

“My baby, she was just so delightful. She was the sunshine in everybody’s life,” Dai’Nyla’s mother, Rayauna Caradine, told WEWS. “She wanted to be a dancer. My baby taught herself everything.”

Caradine, who was also in the SUV, told WEWS they were on the way to Lake Erie for a beach day.

Dai’Nyla’s father, Deonte Wray, told WJW he is still in disbelief and says he can’t understand how the driver could just leave.

“You are dead wrong. You left my kids at the scene. You left your daughter at the scene. You a coward,” Wray told WJW.

Police say the driver of the SUV left the scene and remains on the loose, according to WOIO.

“Please … just turn yourself in … please …” Caradine told WEWS.

Witnesses described it as a horrific and tragic scene.

“The kids just started ... I pulled over on the street really fast and came over, and kids just started falling out of the car; they were in the trunk pouring out of the car. It was devastating,” Brooke Weese, who stopped when she saw the crash happen, told WOIO.

Wray said it’s hard to describe the nightmare he is living, WJW reported.

“Now I gotta explain to my son that he is never going to see his sister again, and I just wouldn’t wish this on anyone,” Wray told WJW.

Six children in the vehicle were rushed to a hospital. Audrianne Howard, 6, was one of them, WJW reported.

“She is going to have to learn how to walk again. Her leg is broken in two different places,” her mother, Katie Tatro, told the outlet.

The children in the vehicle ranged from ages 2-12, according to WOIO.
