The Weirdest CBD Products You Can Buy Right Now

We’ve come a long way since Cheech and Chong. CBD (cannabidoil), which won’t get you high like its illicit twin tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is having its moment, not for any mind-altering appeal, but for its potential health benefits.

The healing properties of the cannabis plant are largely anecdotal at this point, and yet with everyone from Whoopi Goldberg to Michael J. Fox to UFC champ Nate Diaz promoting its effectiveness, they've reached an extreme level of saturation from a cultural standpoint. People go to great lengths to vouch for its virtues as a sleep aid, stress reliever, pain reducer, anxiety eliminator, and anti-inflammatory wünder-extract. Before I join that parade, let’s set a few things straight:

CBD is non-psychoactive. It can be extracted from both marijuana and hemp, which are both members of the Cannabis sativa family. The big difference between the two is in their concentrations of THC. Hemp contains less than 0.3 percent, while marijuana may contain between 15 and 40 percent THC. From there, it’s a state-by-state game. Where cannabis is legal, CBD can be derived from either plant-stalks, leaves, buds, and all. In states where it’s illegal, CBD oil is hemp-based and only the stalks are processed.
