Record-breaking $70 million Lotto Max jackpot still up for grabs
The first Lotto Max draw for 2020 is still looking for its big winner. An estimated record-breaking $70 million could be yours after the upcoming Tuesday draw, with an estimated 25 Maxmillion prizes available, worth $1 million each.
The initial draw on Jan. 3 did not see a jackpot winner but two million dollar Maxmillion tickets were sold in Mississauga, Ont., while six worth $500,000 each were sold in London, the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, Ottawa, Richmond Hill, Sarnia and Toronto.
To date, the largest jackpot won in Canada totalled $65 million, which occurred twice in the country’s lottery history. One ticket was sold in Quebec in June 2019 and the other was purchased in Western Canada in October of the same year.
In B.C., lottery players claimed $785 million in winnings in 2019, with over $230 million in Lotto Max prizes.
There were 16 Lotto Max jackpot wins in 2019 and since its launch in September 2009, Ontario Lotto Max players have won over $5 billion, with 66 jackpot wins.
Players can purchase tickets at authorized retailers or online until 10:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 7.
