70-year-old man found unresponsive in east Wichita apartment fire dies, official says
A 70-year-old man who was found unresponsive in his apartment during a fire has died, the Wichita Fire Department said Friday.
Firefighters were called at 4:27 a.m. Thursday to Horizons East Apartments, 505 N. Rock near Central. The fire started in the man’s first-floor apartment. The building is two stories. The fire was contained to that apartment, and the man was the only one inside.
The man was found unresponsive. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
