ABC and ESPN are back on Spectrum, but not all Disney channels return. What to know

Disney channels — at least most of them — are back for Spectrum customers, just in time for Monday Night Football. But not all Disney networks are returning.

The two companies, The Walt Disney Company and Charter Communications, announced a deal on Monday that restores “the majority of Disney’s networks and stations” for Spectrum TV Select subscribers and gives those customers access to ESPN+ and Disney+ streaming services.

The two companies had been negotiating for months, and all Disney channels went dark on Spectrum on Aug. 31. Charter had said it had been seeking to gain more flexibility as far as which Disney networks they had to pay for as part of their carriage agreement, and they wanted Spectrum customers to have access to some of Disney’s streaming products.

Here’s what Spectrum TV Select subscribers can expect:

Most Disney networks, such as ESPN and Disney-owned-and-operated ABC affiliates like ABC11 in Raleigh, will immediately be available. Spectrum describes the available channels as “a more curated lineup of 19 networks.”

The Disney+ Basic streaming service (with ads) will be available in the coming months.

The ESPN+ streaming products will be available in the coming months.
