ACE Entertainment Developing Suzanne Young’s YA Horror Novel ‘In Nightfall’ For Television
EXCLUSIVE: ACE Entertainment has optioned TV rights to New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Young’s In Nightfall, a young adult horror novel that was sought after by a number of production companies, sources tell Deadline.
SVP, Television Paul Kim and VP of Television Kendyll Boucher will serve as exec producers of the small-screen adaptation, we’re told.

Billed as a gender-swapped Lost Boys, or The Lost Boys meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, In Nightfall was published by Penguin Random House/Delacorte Press in March 2023, going viral on X and being springboarded into the publishing zeitgeist when no one showed up to the author’s book launch in Tempe, Arizona.
The book takes place in the quaint town of Nightfall, Oregon, where it isn’t the dark you should be afraid of — it’s the girls. Theo and her brother, Marco, threw the biggest party of the year. And got caught. Their punishment? Leave Arizona to spend the summer with their grandmother in the rainy beachside town of Nightfall, Oregon — population, 846 souls. This small town is cute when it’s not raining, but their grandmother is superstitious and strangely antisocial. Upon their arrival she lays out the one house rule: always be home before dark. But Theo and Marco are determined to make the most of their summer, and on their first day they meet the enigmatic Minnow and her friends. Beautiful and charismatic, the girls have a magnetic pull that Theo and her brother can’t resist. But Minnow and her friends are far from what they appear.
And that one rule? Theo quickly realizes she should have listened to her grandmother. Because after dark, something emerges in Nightfall. And it doesn’t plan to let her leave.
To date, Young has published more than 20 novels, including the bestselling series The Program with Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins Children’s Bram Stoker Award-nominated middle grade novel What Stays Buried, The Treatment, and Girls with Sharp Sticks.
Boasting an expertise in adapting YA works for the screen, ACE Entertainment is responsible for all three films in the hit Netflix franchise, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, as well as films like Love in Taipei, The Perfect Date, Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between, and Love at First Sight. Next set to release films like I Wish You All the Best and Time Cut, the company’s upcoming slate includes the films A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, Jingle Bell Heist and Family Secrets, among other projects.
