Which AFC East teams are making moves before the new NFL league year starts?

It’s the last day before the new NFL league year starts.

The NFL free agent negotiating, or legal tampering, period started Monday at noon and concludes Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had not made a decision of whether he was staying in Green Bay, going to the New York Jets or retiring through the first two days of the negotiating period.

4 p.m. update: Rodgers announced on the Pat McAfee Show he intends on playing for the New York Jets and that he’s not holding anything up just the Packers and what compensation they’d get in a trade.

Other moves in the AFC East that could impact the Dolphins were safety Jordan Poyer staying with the Bills, and The Athletic’s report that the Patriots have called about wide receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Jerry Jeudy.

Following that report, wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster plans to sign a three-year, $33 million contract with the Patriots, according to the NFL Network. He won a Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs this past season.

ESPN reported the Bucs are bringing linebacker Lavonte David back on a one-year deal. NFL Network reported it is a guaranteed $7 million contract.

Running back Justice Hill is resigning with the Ravens on a two-year, $4.5 deal that has a max value of $5 million, ESPN reported.

The Texans are signing defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins to a one-year, $10.5 million deal, NFL Network reported.

12 p.m. update: Baker Mayfield is signing a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former Browns and Rams quarterback is getting a contract worth up to $8.5 million, according to ESPN.

The Eagles are releasing veteran cornerback Darius Slay after the two sides reportedly broke down in contract negotiations last week, according to The Athletic.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported the Cowboys are planning to cut running back Ezekiel Elliott.

ESPN reported the wide receiver Ashton Dulin is returning to the Colts, while NFL Network reported the team is moving on from quarterback Matt Ryan.

The Panthers are expected to sign former Bengals tight end Hayden Hurst, the NFL Network reported.

Wide receiver Deonte Harty is heading to the Bills in a two-year deal with a max value of $13.5 million, according to ESPN and the NFL Network.

The Patriots reportedly retain safety Jabrill Peppers, while also signing offensive tackle Riley Reiff.

Defensive tackle Jarran Reed is signing with the Seahawks, per the NFL Network. Another defensive tackle, Khalen Saunders, is expected to sign with the Saints, the outlet reported.
