Air France flight to Vancouver makes emergency landing in Scotland after burning smell detected on board

Crew aboard an Air France flight to Vancouver declared an emergency and landed in Scotland Saturday due to technical issues on board, the airline confirmed.

Flight 374 from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport diverted to an airport outside Glasgow as a precautionary measure after a "light smell of burning" was detected, the airline said in an email to CBC News.

The flight remained on the runway at Glasgow's Prestwick Airport, according to a tweet from the aviation information website AirLive.net.

The runway was vacated and the flight was standing for a check and refuel, it said.

The airline has not reported any injuries.

The plane is a Boeing 777/200 with nearly 300 passengers on board, Air France told CBC News.

Kirsten Sweeney, a spokesperson for Prestwick Airport, told CBC News the emergency landing was due to a sensory issue on the plane. She did not elaborate.
