Alhambra Easter Egg Hunt

This year’s annual Alhambra Easter Egg Hunt will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at the Township Park and will include four hunt areas: Age 3 and under; ages 4-6; ages 7-9; and 10 and up. Children may take photos with the Easter Bunny, Large prizes and more. Each child should bring their own basket/bag. The village of Alhambra, Salem United Church of Christ and Alhambra Community Club will sponsor this event.

Salem UCC Easter Egg Hunt

An Easter Egg Hunt for children ages newborn thru sixth grade will be held Easter Sunday — April 9 — during Sunday School. Children will be separated into appropriate age groups. Weather permitting, this will be an outside event. Children should bring their own baskets.

Salem UCC Lord’s Living Supper

Salem United Church of Christ is performing a living re-enactment of The Last Supper at 7 p.m. on Maundy Thursday (April 6). All people and all faiths are invited to come join the church during this Holy Season.

Village Yard Sales

Village wide yard sales will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, April 27; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 28; and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 29.

For people who want their addresses and small description of items for sale put on the map, email information to fbcoffice@gmail.com or text/call Cathy Adolph at 618-401-5911. Maps will be available after 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, at First Baptist Church, 209 W. Main, Alhambra.

Jubilee committee to host mouse races

The Alhambra Jubilee committee will host mouse races Saturday, April 15, at Alhambra Firemen and Legion Hall at the Township Park. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and first races begin around 7 p.m.

The event will feature a cash bar with beer and soda — no outside liquor will be allowed. This is an all ages event —$10 per person, 8-person tables available. For further information call Jessica Take at 618-410-3058. 50/50 tickets will be sold. Proceeds will go towards Alhambra’s 175th Anniversary Celebration in 2024.

Fire Department Scholarship

The Alhambra Volunteer Fire Department will be awarding their Annual Memorial Scholarship to a deserving high school senior. One $500 scholarship will be awarded.

To qualify, students must be a 2023 graduating senior and reside within the Alhambra Fire Protection District.

Applications will be available at Highland High School office and the student the school must fill it out. Call 630-649-8709 to set up a time and location to give to either Randy or Jessica Take at 618-410-3058.

The deadline for returned applications is Wednesday, April 5.

Applications will be sent to the Education Committee in Edwardsville for evaluation on who will be awarded the scholarship.

Alhambra Primary

  • Students will be collecting pennies and small change for Leaps of Love during the month of April.

  • Teachers Appreciation Week will be Monday, May 8, through Friday, May 12. To help in any way, contact Linsey at 618-550-9148

  • Domino’s Night will be Thursday, May 2, help the PTO and enjoy a night without cooking.

  • Friday, April 28, will be Kindergarten visitation. This is for children entering kindergarten for the year 2023-24. Neither kindergarten nor pre-K will have classes that day.
