Exhale Car Wash

The Salem Church youth group “Exhale” will hold a car wash Tuesday, June 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., behind the bank building.

Donations will go towards the Exhale Mission Trip.

Little Homesteaders Business Fair

Each year thLittle Homesteaders Business Fair seems to get bigger as young people realize their potential to provide products to sell.

Approximately 26 young people participated at Alhambra Park on June 5. A large display of wares were for sale at reasonable prices: Plants ready to be planted in the ground, jewelry to adorn any outfit. Birdhouses for our feathered friends, snacks made with nuts, homemade candies, woodworking projects,crochet projects and lemonade were available as well as many other items.

Alhambra Homecoming/175th Anniversary

The Village of Alhambra will have a joint celebration with the annual homecoming, incorporating the 175th anniversary of the settling of Alhambra.

Festivities take place Aug. 2-4.

There will be parades Friday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Other activities will include a bounce house, model train show, tractors on display with a tractor drive at 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. on Saturday and a pedal tractor pull at 1 p.m. There will also be a gun raffle, basket raffles, good food, beer and soda.

The Dance Hall will have a Museum of the history of Alhambra complete with pictures.

There will be old-fashioned games to play, commemorative souvenirs for purchase, a fashion show for those entering to dress in any era from 1849-1999.

Break out those granny dresses and sun bonnets, poodle skirts, mini skirts, bell bottom trousers. Guys get your James Dean look on. Dress up and join the fun.

Music will be on hand all three days with Cheers Band on Friday night and Exit 36 and Jessie G on Saturday. Sunday night’s band will be Travis Tracy.

Sunday food trucks will be on hand to put a fresh spin on festivity foods. Come enjoy M&K BBQ ribs, chicken and pulled pork.

Salem Church will match funds donated for the Lunch Bunch Program.

The Canada Day celebration in Wetaskiwin kicked off with a massive parade on Monday, July 1.
