Allison Holker Boss is opening up to PEOPLE about her new home — and the fresh start it's given her family.
The dancer and TV host tells PEOPLE that her new house “just feels like a breath of fresh air” a year after she lost her husband, who died by suicide in December 2022 at age 40.
“We moved recently and it was such a great move for my whole family,” Holker Boss, 35, says, while discussing the new children's book she wrote with her late husband, Keep Dancing Through: A Boss Family Groove. “It's got such great energy about it and everyone just feels like they can breathe here. It's beautiful, it feels like us and a new us, a new version of who we are.”

The star shares daughter Weslie Renae, 15, son Maddox Laurel, 7, and daughter Zaia, 3, with Boss.
“You know me, I'm a fast mover, so I was like, we got in here, everything was moved in the first week," Holker Boss tells PEOPLE. “Everyone's been moved in and very happy about it." She added that each of the kids had a say in their room's decoration, as she “let everyone pick their own bedding.”
“Really this house, when we moved in, it was a chance to start over and find who we are now, and it's been absolutely lovely,” she reveals.
Holker Boss tells PEOPLE that her favorite thing about her new home is the scent. “I am religious about my house scent and every day at 5:00 PM, I do a turn, almost like what you get at hotels," the mother of three says. “The lighting shifts, the mood shifts, the candle shift, everything has a big moment and turns into our night events. So I love that.”
She's “obsessed with Le Labo" for her candles, she says, and tends to go for the scent Santal on the main level of the home and Palo Santo in her primary suite. “Yes, I've always been a scent girly and then when I moved here I was like, ‘Okay, what is this house's scent?’ That was a big thing for me.”
Holker Boss sold the Los Angeles family home that she shared with her late husband and their three children in November. According to property records, the home sold for $3.525 million after it was originally listed for sale in Oct. 2023 for $3.795 million.
The space is familiar to fans of the couple as Holker Boss often shared videos on Instagram of her and Boss dancing together in their home.
After moving into the Encino property in 2019, the couple shared their redesign of the space in 2021in collaboration with Pottery Barn.
Holker Boss shared with PEOPLE at the time that she “really wanted the home to feel like a sanctuary for us where we could breathe together and just create memories in this really warm space.”
The couple were married for nine years before the former Ellen DeGeneres Show DJ died. After meeting at a party in 2006, they reconnected in 2010 on season 7 of So You Think You Can Dance and later tied the knot in Dec. 2013.
The family remembered him on what would have been the star's 41st birthday in September. Allison wrote, "We honor our beautiful, sweet, kind and loving Stephen tWitch Laurel Boss. Forever on our hearts and minds carrying us, guiding us and lifting us."
