‘America’s Got Talent,’ ‘Big Brother’ Live Shows Lead This Week’s Broadcast TV Ratings

Live shows from NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” and CBS’ “Big Brother” attracted the largest audience and highest ratings of this week’s broadcast TV programs.

As audiences tuned in to watch “America’s Got Talent” judges evaluate live acts on the NBC reality competition series, the Tuesday and Wednesday airings were the most-watched programs across primetime from last Friday to Thursday, according to TheWrap’s weekly broadcast TV ratings breakdown of the top 10 highest-rated and most-watched programs of the week.

The first “America’s Got Talent” live show on Tuesday drew in 5.82 million total viewers while the Wednesday airing saw a viewership of 4.88 million, according to Nielsen live-plus-same-day figures.

Likewise, the live eviction on Thursday’s “Big Brother” airing drew in the highest rating of the week with a 0.63 rating in the key broadcast demographic among adults 18-49, while the Wednesday episode came right behind the Thursday episode with a 0.62 rating. The first “America’s Got Talent” live show came in third place in terms of ratings with a 0.60 rating.

As expected, Fox’s Friday night’s airing of “WWE Smackdown” secured ratings success with a 0.55 score, while the Monday finale of ABC’s “The Bachelorette” came in the No. 5 spot on the list with a 0.53 rating. Next came the Wednesday airing of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” which came in sixth place on the list with a 0.50, while “American Ninja Warrior’s” Monday airing on NBC came in seventh place with a 0.35 rating.

No scripted series made their way onto this week’s top-rated programs as “MasterChef,” “The Challenge: USA” and “Generation Gap” filled out the last three spots on the list.

In terms of total viewership, after both episodes of “America’s Got Talent” secured the top two spots on the list, the Wednesday airing of “Big Brother” came third on the list with a viewership of 3.29 million.

“American Ninja Warrior” beat the Thursday airing of CBS’ “Big Brother” for the No. 4 spot on the list with 3.04 million total viewers while “Big Brother” came in fifth place with 3.02 million total viewers.

CBS procedurals “FBI: Most Wanted” and “NCIS” locked down the sixth and ninth spots on the top viewership list with 2.99 million total viewers and 2.81 million total viewers, respectively, marking the only scripted series to make the list.

Other reality series making the list include “The Bachelorette” finale, which secured the seventh spot on the list with 2.99 million viewers, “Generation Gap,” which took the No. 8 spot with 2.91 million total viewers, and “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune,” which came in 10th place with 2.77 million total viewers.
