Nina Dobrev admits she didn’t recognize former ‘Degrassi’ costar Drake’s voice on the radio

For three years, Nina Dobrev bumped elbows with future rap star Aubrey Graham, a.k.a. Drake, on "Degrassi: The Next Generation." But apparently, their experience wasn't all that memorable for the "Vampire Diaries" actress.

Dobrev, who played teen mom Mia Jones from 2006 to 2009 on the popular Canadian series, graces the cover of Nylon magazine's February issue and discusses her former co-star's success in the mag.

"I remember being in the car going to a party, singing along with the radio," said the 23-year-old brunette beauty. "And somebody said, 'Isn't that your buddy Drake?' I was like, 'Who's Drake?'"

While Graham may be known to most of the world as Drake, the sweater-loving, hip-hop star responsible for hits like "Headlines" and "Best I Ever Had," Dobrev still thinks of him as her friendly co-star.

"He was so sweet," said "The Vampire Diaries" star on Graham, who played wheelchair-bound Jimmy Brooks from 2001 to 2009 on the hit show. "It's almost weird to me that he's a rapper and a sex symbol now."

But even weirder than Graham becoming a rapper and sex symbol, may be the fact that Dobrev didn't recognize his voice on the radio. Besides three years worth of "Degrassi" eps, the two also appeared in the Canadian short film "Mookie's Law" in 2008. If Dobrev tunes in to all this footage, you'd think his voice would've sunk in by now.
