Andrew Tate not allowed to travel back to UK from Romania to visit ill mother

Andrew Tate has had a bid to leave Romania and travel back to the UK to visit his ill mother rejected.

The 37-year-old tweeted: "The Romanian state decided she [his mother] must be alone at Christmas, if she is alive."

He had requested an "emergency visit to London" to see his mother in hospital after she suffered a heart attack.

Tate, as well as his brother, Tristan, were previously banned from leaving Romania, where they live, while they face rape and human trafficking charges.

The pair have denied the allegations.

Previously on house arrest, the Tate brothers were granted permission earlier in the year to travel anywhere within Romania - but not abroad.

A Tate spokesperson said the brothers had "maintained an impeccable record of adhering to all restrictions and have never violated any regulations".

Such conduct affirmed their "commitment to compliance and proving that they are not a flight risk", the spokesperson added.

"Despite this, the decision delivered by the court has left us disheartened."

The brothers were originally arrested in December 2022 and held in jail until March, when they were placed under house arrest.

Charges against them and two co-accused women followed in June.

They are accused of tricking seven women into sexual exploitation on promises of a relationship or marriage - a technique labelled the "lover boy method".

Andrew Tate has repeatedly claimed prosecutors have no evidence and that the case is a political conspiracy designed to silence him.

Tate has recently been trying to get back millions of euros worth of valuables confiscated by authorities, including a number of luxury cars and watches.
