A pedestrian was taken to hospital with "significant injuries" after being hit by a car outside a supermarket in Nottinghamshire.

Police said the woman, who is in her 30s, was injured outside Aldi, in Nottingham Road, Stapleford, just before 17:20 BST on Monday.

Her condition is not believed to be life-threatening, the force added.

The driver of the car has been spoken to by officers and an investigation into what happened is continuing.

Sgt Craig Luckett, of the force's roads policing unit, said: "The victim suffered significant injuries and we are working hard to understand exactly what happened.

“We have spoken to several drivers at the scene but would also like to hear from any additional witnesses who have yet to come forward.”
