On the calendar today is National Hug a Newsperson Day. We at the Lexington Herald-Leader humbly ask that you celebrate another holiday, perhaps National Walk Around Things Day.
However, if you wish to show appreciation for a newsperson, or newspaper, you can do so by reading these stories.

The United States Army has released the identities of the nine soldiers who were killed in a double Black Hawk Helicopter crash in Western Kentucky last Wednesday.
All nine soldiers were based in Fort Campbell with the 101st Airborne Division, according to Brig. Gen. John Lubas, deputy commander for 101st Airborne Division. Herald-Leader reporter Christopher Leach has more here.
And another potentially severe storm with damaging winds is expected to hit Kentucky this week, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS projected that virtually all of Kentucky will be under at least a slight risk for severe weather. Here’s the latest forecast.

Sports
Kentucky has won just one NCAA Tournament game in the past three editions of March Madness and the players expected to headline the Wildcats’ next roster have played exactly zero minutes of college basketball.
That isn’t doing much to temper the national expectations around UK’s 2023-24 season.
Even with most of this season’s top contributors expected to be gone, Kentucky basketball is ranked among the best in the country for 2023-24.
