B.C. Ferries filling up hours in advance

If you need to catch a B.C. ferry this Thanksgiving Monday, you may want to leave sooner rather than later.

B.C. Ferries is reporting sailings are filling up hours in advance.

The 5 p.m. PT Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay sailing was more than half full at 2:30 p.m. PT and the 5 p.m. PT return ferry from Swartz Bay was already full.

The ferry corporation has been sending out tweets all afternoon warning of extremely high volume.

Pay parking at Tsawwassen, Duke Point and Swartz Bay was also reported to be at capacity.

Last week, B.C. Ferries announced it was adding 55 additional trips for the Thanksgiving long weekend, 44 of them on the Tsawwassen–Swartz Bay route, the busiest route in the fleet.

Additional sailings were also scheduled today for peak travel times today on the Horseshoe Bay–Departure Bay run.
