B.C. home invaders went to wrong apartment

Three men have been arrested in connection with a Vancouver Island home invasion over the weekend that occurred at the wrong address, police say.

Investigators believe the perpetrators had the right apartment number, but the wrong Nanaimo apartment building, said Sgt. Sheryl Armstrong

A 30-year-old woman suffered a broken jaw and a black eye in the attack, which occurred just before 7 a.m. PT on Saturday.

The victim's boyfriend and roommates cornered one of the suspects, while police dogs tracked down the other two.

Armstrong said police usually advise victims to not take matters into their own hands, but that doesn't always happen, especially when emotions are running high — although it was understandable under the circumstances.

"I think when you start dealing with a violent assault like that, and it's your girlfriend, people are going to react," Armstrong said.

Hudson Klassen, 20, Cuong Luu, 22, both from Nanaimo, and 20-year-old Long Tran of Vancouver are facing charges of assault, assault causing bodily harm, break and enter and wearing a mask while committing a crime.

The victim has had her jaw temporarily wired shut and will have to undergo further corrective surgery, police said.
