'Bachelor in Paradise Canada' recap: Cole Medders thinks no one is 'falling in love'
"I have opened myself up on TV before and I've gotten screwed over. So I'm just not doing that again," Cole said after Sam Picco posed a "love" question
Bachelor in Paradise Canada Season 2 is at that point where big questions about falling in love are being asked, leaving some vulnerable and disappointed, particularly Samantha "Sam" Picco and Cole Medders.
"What if I said I was falling in love with you?" Sam said, posing the question to Cole, but he didn't seem to be on the same page.
"I don't think anyone here is actually falling in love," Cole said. "I think it's infatuation."
"I think it's the idea of love. ... Not that I'm not capable of digging into feelings, I don't feel like doing that here. I have opened myself up on TV before and I've gotten screwed over. So I'm just not doing that again."
Cole said Sam keeps "pushing" for more, but he can't keep "leading her on and making her hope that there's a future together after this."
"I'm not falling in love, that's not going to happen here," Cole said.
Sam, getting upset and emotional, admits that she wants this connection to be something "special," and saw herself falling in love in paradise.
But then Sam and Lisa Mancini connect on "two-timing Cole," realizing that he's been telling each of the women what they want to hear.
"This is why girls always need to talk," Lisa said. "Because I feel like we were both kind of bamboozled."
Of course, that's when Sam gets a date card and still picks Cole, with the hopes of getting some honesty from him during their one-on-one time.
But Cole's story seems to shift. Cole does admit that he had a conversation with Lisa where he said they could keep talking outside of paradise later, but then said if he could go back in time he would have ended things with Lisa sooner. That leads Sam to think that Lisa wants to hurt her.
"It's because she's a bad person," Sam said. "Looking forward to karma sorting itself out and taking care of Lisa."
Meanwhile, things become more contentious between Lisa and Connor Brennan as well, with him feeling like he's been putting more into their connection than she's been.
Another love triangle quickly developed in paradise between Ana Cruz from Montreal, The Bachelorette Season 18 alum Edward Naranjo and the new addition Juan Pablo Osorio from Toronto (not that Juan Pablo).
After Ana and Juan Pablo shared a passionate kiss on their date, Ana really felt a strong connection, but she still couldn't completely shake her feelings for Edward.
This week's episode closed out with a blow up between Tessa Tookes and Maria Garcia-Sanchez, after Tessa got upset about Maria rubbing Joey Kirchner's leg when all the singles were spending time together.
Maria was adamant that she's known Joey for six years and they've always behaved that way as friends, while Tessa stressed that Maria' behaviour "disregarded" her relationship with Joey.
Date, time changes for next 'Bachelor in Paradise Canada' episode
Times are shifting for Bachelor in Paradise Canada with the next episode airing on Sunday, June 25 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on Citytv, and the singles are getting a special surprise.
Canadian drag superstar Priyanka will be stirring up some drama on Sunday with the tease for the upcoming episode stating that the singles will be "forced to confront some brutal truths, leading to an emotional blow up."
