'Bachelor in Paradise Canada' recap: First rose ceremony gets messy after 'Hurricane Demi'
Lisa Mancini wants to get the full paradise experience, despite Quartney Mixon's affection, and an ASMR double date shakes things up
It didn't take long for things to get messy on Bachelor in Paradise Canada, hosted by Sharleen Joynt (Mondays 8 p.m. ET/PT on Citytv, catch up on Citytv.com and on Citytv+).
The latest episodes started off with the return of "Hurricane Demi," Bachelor alumni Demi Burnett, who made the singles "get real" with a series of questions to reveal their true feelings about each other.
Samantha "Sam" Picco from St. John's took the first shot, saying that The Bachelor Canada Season 3 star, Lisa Mancini from St. Catharines, Ont., is the person in paradise putting out "toxic vibes." This came after Lisa kissed Quartney Mixon and Connor Brennan, both from The Bachelorette Season 17.
Céline Paquette from Winnipeg said if she could get rid of someone in paradise it would be Sam, to eliminate her competition for Cole Medders.
Last but not least, we found out that the Canadian cowboy, Joey Kirchner from Redcliff, Alta., had previous flings with both Nithisha Ketheeswaran from Stouffville, Ont., and Maria Garcia-Sanchez.
Quartney confronted Lisa about her kiss with Connor. But Lisa was adamant that she wants to get the full paradise experience, getting to know as many people as possible.
"I want a girl who knows what she wants," Quartney said. "It makes me want to step back a little bit.”
First Rose Ceremony
In the season's first Rose Ceremony, the men had the decisions to make, with many of them already unsure about the most rose-worthy singles.
The most complex was Cole, who found himself stuck between choosing Rianna Hockaday from The Bachelor Season 26, or Sam. Rianna continued to say throughout the episode that Cole was the only person she was attracted to in paradise.
Quartney still had some mixed feeling about Lisa, so he pursued a possibly connection with Maria from the first season of Bachelor in Paradise Canada, but he was shut down. Of course, Connor also spent some time with Maria.
Joey and Shazeeda "Shaz" Gafoor from Toronto kept their relationship alive after last week's date, but he ended up kissing Céline in the same night, giving him a hard choice to make.
Ultimately, here is how the Rose Ceremony turned out:
Austin Tinsley and Chelsea Vaughn
Matia Marcantuoni and Meagan Morris
Garrett Aida and Nithisha Ketheeswaran
Quartney Mixon and Lisa Mancini
Connor Brennan and Maria Garcia-Sanchez
Cole Medders and Sam Picco
Joey Kirchner and Céline Paquette
Seemingly, the most secure relationship so far is between U.S. singles Austin Tinsley from The Bachelorette Season 17 and Chelsea Vaughn from The Bachelor Season 25.
The same can't be said for Lisa and Quartney, and Nithisha and Garrett.
Something new is always coming to paradise and this week, Godfrey Mangwiza from Big Brother Season 3 and Edward Naranjo from The Bachelorette Season 18 arrived on the beach to shake things up.
Godfrey ended up asking Lisa for a date and Edward asked Nithisha. It ended up being an ASMR-inspired double date, where the singles made sounds to each other.
The double date didn't sit well with both Quartney and Garrett. Things got particularly heated after Nithisha and Edward shared a kiss.
Next week on 'Bachelor in Paradise Canada'
According to the teaser for next week's episode, Lisa continues to explore all her options in paradise, but there will be "serious consequences."
A new arrival is expected to shake things up for Cole and there's a special event that pits couples against each other, leaving some singles "out in the cold."
