Bank Street crash leaves 2 injured in front of Little Ray's Reptile Zoo

A 40-year-old man was seriously injured after a crash in front of Little Ray's Reptile Zoo in south Ottawa on Saturday, paramedics say.

The crash happened at 5305 Bank St., between Rideau and Mitch Owens roads, just before 10:30 a.m.

When firefighters arrived one person was trapped in a vehicle and had to be rescued, which took about 15 minutes, the fire department said in a media release.

The 40-year-old man, who was driving a mid-size sedan, suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.

A 50-year-old man was immobilized by paramedics due to possible spinal injuries and was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Both vehicles appeared to have been heading south, paramedics said.

Ottawa police are investigating.
