BBC acquires murder mystery series with Derry Girls star
The BBC has acquired Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue, starring Derry Girls' Siobhán McSweeney.
A mystery drama told in flashbacks, the six-part series from creator Anthony Horowitz follows a plane crash in the Mexican jungle.
As the show kicks off with the bodies of all passengers, crew and pilot being recovered and placed in a morgue, it seems pretty straightforward they must've all died in the accident...

However, it is revealed that only one of them died on impact, while the others were murdered afterwards, "each one in a unique way," as per the show's official synopsis.
"As the story unfolds in flashback, we meet the survivors as they fight against the heat, a shortage of supplies, the many dangers of the jungle… and each other," the logline continues.
"The setting becomes increasingly tense and claustrophobic as, one by one, they are dispatched with a series of shocks that bring us ever closer to the truth and – at the very end – a jaw-dropping reveal."
Joining McSweeney are Will & Grace's Eric McCormack, Star Trek: Discovery's David Ajala, The Swarm's Lydia Wilson, Yellowjackets' Peter Gadiot, The Tourist's Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Happy Valley's Adam Long, and The Capture's Jan Le.

The show promises to have viewers on the edge of their seats, with Sue Deeks, head of BBC programme acquisition, saying: "Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue is an ingenious, original and suspenseful murder mystery multiplied by nine! It is absolutely guaranteed to keep viewers riveted to their screens until the very end."
"Our story has a universality which makes it perfect for the BBC," Jill Green, CEO of the show's production company Eleventh Hour Films, commented. "We are thrilled to have assembled a global cast that will bring total authenticity to this original drama."
In the US, the series will be available on MGM+, with the streamer's boss Michael Wright saying: "Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue is a clever and wildly entertaining addition to MGM+'s growing slate of cinematic edge-of-your-seat thrillers. Anthony Horowitz has spun a masterfully inventive web of deception and intrigue that keeps audiences guessing until the very last axe falls."
Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue will be released on the BBC at a later date.
