The Bear star Jeremy Allen White has shared his biggest hope for his character Carmy Berzatto in season three.

The actor was recognised for his portrayal of the troubled chef at the SAG Awards on Saturday (February 24), taking home the award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

Shortly after his win, White explained that he wants Carmy to have a "happy ending" in the show's upcoming season (via Deadline).

"I was flying to Chicago and I got dropped a little note on a napkin while I was on the plane. All it said on it was, 'I hope Carmy gets a happy ending'. I think that's all I really hoped for," he said.

"That he learns how to understand himself a little bit better and appreciates what he has and then finds some peace."

The actor went on to share what he hopes viewers will take away from the series, saying: "What I want people to take away or understand, to me, the show is so much about loneliness and how to combat that. How to find belonging, how to communicate and how to connect.

"I hope those who watch it and enjoy it feel less alone. I think a lot of the show is about found family and the connection we all are always searching for."

White's co-star Ayo Edebiri also triumphed at the weekend's award ceremony, winning Best Actress in the comedy category for her role as chef Sydney Adamu. The hit FX show also won the award for Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

Ahead of the show's anticipated third season, which is currently in production, White previously teased that the next instalment will primarily be based in the kitchen – reminiscent of season one.

"In the third season, I think we're going to go back to that functioning kitchen atmosphere that we had in the first," he told Variety.

The Bear seasons one and two are available to stream on Disney+ and FX in the US.
