Brews to you: Beer Store begins home delivery in Ottawa

Beer lovers in two major Ontario markets are now able to enjoy bottles and cans of their favourite brew delivered right to their front door.

The Beer Store has announced Ottawa and Scarborough as the first two test markets for its Beer Xpress home delivery service.

Customers will be able to choose from more than 800 brands online and purchase beer that can be delivered to their homes.

Orders will be completed within designated store hours according to responsible sale guidelines and delivered by licensed home delivery services, according to a news release.

It will cost $8 per delivery in Ottawa and $9.75 in Scarborough.

Ottawa and Scarborough were selected based on criteria including market demand and the number of stores in their delivery footprint.

The pilot project arrives in time for Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa. Four Beer Stores in downtown Ottawa will be open on Saturday, July 1, and delivering beer to customers' homes.

The four locations open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. are 210 Rideau St., 515 Somerset St. W., 900 Bank St. and 546 Scott St.
