Bellefonte teen seriously injured, taken to hospital after crash in rural Centre County

A teenager was seriously injured Sunday in a single-vehicle crash in rural Centre County, state police at Rockview wrote in a crash report.

A 17-year-old girl, of Bellefonte, crashed about 5:20 p.m. Sunday on state Route 26 near North Gettig Lane in Marion Township, police wrote. She drove a 2009 Honda Civic off the right side of the road, overcorrected and struck a tree on the left side of the road, police wrote.

She was transported by Bellefonte EMS to UPMC Williamsport for treatment of serious injuries, police wrote.

There were 17 serious crashes between 2013 and 2022 in Marion Township, state Transportation Department data showed. That was the 10th most of any municipality in Centre County.

It was the second most in the Nittany Valley Region, trailing the 31 serious crashes reported in Spring Township.
