Knuffle Bunny is coming to a screen (and possibly a city) near you!

The beloved children’s book character, created by author Mo Willems, will star in Knuffle Bunny Across America, a new YouTube series premiering on April 7.

Per a statement shared with PEOPLE, the educational short-form series, which is executive produced by Hidden Pigeon Company with production by Small Army, will share 12 stories shot by kids across the country. Each child, with help from their caregiver, will show what makes their hometown and daily life special.

Each episode opens with a kid finding a package at their door, which contains a Knuffle Bunny toy. The stuffed rabbit then accompanies the child throughout their day-to-day life, from going to school to their nighttime routine.

The episodes then end with the kid packing up Knuffle Bunny to send on to the next location. The YouTube series will feature a variety of places and stories, including a kid in Queens, New York who rides the subway, to a kid who lives on a Kansas Farm.

Knuffle Bunny Across America will not only let the series' featured kids share their stories but “gives permission for all kids to start to tell and share their own story."

Knuffle Bunny was first featured in Willems's 2004 children’s book Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, which features a protagonist named after the author's child. The book won the 2005 Caldecott Honor, and has been expanded into two sequels: 2007’s Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity and 2010’s Knuffle Bunny Free: An Unexpected Diversion.
