Grieving Ben Goldsmith has admitted he took hallucinogenic drugs and met with a medium in an attempt to connect with his daughter who was killed in an accident four years ago.

Iris Annabel Goldsmith, 15, was riding a quad bike on the family's farm in Somerset in July 2019 when she lost control of the vehicle.

The bike lost its balance and overturned, pinning the teenager to the ground. A friend called 999 but by the time her father arrived, she had died.

Goldsmith and his ex-wife Kate Rothschild were devastated by the death of their daughter, and he has now written a book called God is an Octopus, sharing his stages of grief.

Soon after the crash that took his daughter's life, Goldsmith said: "Dear God, please can I have my beautiful, brilliant, kind little girl back, please God.

"And if not, please take extra special care of her. I love her so so much and I’m so proud of her. It hurts me so much I can’t describe."

He told the Sunday Times that he took a South American brewed hallucinogenic drug which allowed him to see his daughter one last time.

He said: "My body heaved and shook as tears sheeted down my face. I felt so lucky to have known this girl for the time that I did.

"I yearned to reach out and grab her, to hold her tightly to me now, but there was no way of doing so."

He also had a session with a medium which he says uncovered Iris' final moments.

He said the medium told him: "The last thing she remembers is being very winded and then a rising panic."

Iris Goldsmith was the heiress of two of the country’s most powerful dynasties, being the eldest child of Ben Goldsmith and his ex-wife Rothschild.

She was the niece of Tory Richmond Park MP Zac Goldsmith and documentary film producer Jemima Khan.
