Beyoncé asks fans to wear silver to her AT&T Stadium show. A shopping frenzy ensues.

Beyoncé will bring her Renaissance World Tour to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, followed by two shows in Houston.

First came Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, which filled Arlington’s AT&T Stadium with bright sequin dresses and beaded friendship bracelets.

Then came the “Barbie” movie premier, which brought droves of people wearing hot pink to North Texas movie theaters.

Now, fans of Beyoncé are scouring stores in the Metroplex for silver outfits to wear to the “Crazy in Love” singer’s Renaissance World Tour, coming to AT&T Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 21.

In honor of her Sept. 4 birthday, Beyoncé has asked concert-goers to come decked out in silver during Virgo season — Aug. 23 to Sept. 22.

In an Aug. 23 Instagram story, Beyoncé said: “Virgo season is upon us. This tour has been such a joy and as we approach the last month, my birthday wish is to celebrate with you wearing your most fabulous silver fashions to the shows 8.23 – 9.22! We’ll surround ourselves in a shimmering human disco ball each night. Everybody mirroring each other’s joy. Virgo season together in the house of chrome.”

Demand for silver clothing increased after Beyoncé’s post, garnering national headlines. E-commerce platform Etsy reported a 25% increase in searches for silver blouses, corsets, tops and disco hats the week of Aug. 21, according to The New York Times.

The more sparkly the dress, and the more unique the outfit, the better for customers of Fort Worth’s Apricot Lane Boutique. Store manager Taylor Lange said the shop has seen a “ton” of customers over the past two weeks in search of silver outfits.

“We have definitely had a lot of ladies come in looking for chrome outfits, which we do have quite the selection of,” Lange said. “These girls are definitely stopping in and doing a lot of shopping for it, which we obviously love. We’ve been doing our best to accommodate them and have the over-the-top, extravagant outfits that they’re looking for. Can’t blame them, because it’s Beyoncé.”

The store, which is on Marathon Avenue in The Shops at Clearfork, still has a good selection of silver with some unique pieces that are harder to find in traditional boutiques, Lange said.

“We’ve been trying to keep up with demand and are getting new stuff every week to try and accommodate for Beyoncé and for TCU and the Cowboys,” Lange said.

While some Fort Worth shops have seen silver searchers in the masses, others say they noticed more demand for sequin dresses when Taylor Swift came to town in the spring.

“We had a ton, a ton, a ton more traffic when people were looking for Taylor Swift,” said Wendy Cramer-Karo, store manager of Fort Worth dress shop WhatchamaCallit. “Anything fringe and beads and anything from any era she’s ever had.”

The store off I-30 and Hulen Street had one special order for a silver dress but not many more visitors in search of silver this week. But to be fair, the store known for its homecoming and prom dress selection doesn’t have anything simple, Cramer-Karo said, which could be the reason shoppers are looking elsewhere for silver concert attire.

Beyoncé announced her Renaissance tour in February and has two stops planned for Texas: one in North Texas on Thursday and another in her hometown of Houston on Saturday.

This is the singer’s first full solo tour since Formation in 2016.
