Bicyclist hurt badly after collision in Fresno, police say. Witnesses saw vehicle flee

A bicyclist was seriously injured Saturday night when a vehicle struck him in central Fresno.

The collision happened just after 10 p.m. at Clinton Avenue and Van Ness Boulevard when officers responded and found the bicyclist lying near the sidewalk.

The bicyclist in his 30s was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Fresno Police Lt. Henry Garcia III said witnesses provided officers with information that a dark-colored vehicle left the scene eastbound on Clinton towards Wishon Avenue after the collision.

Officers were canvassing for surveillance video and any additional evidence, Garcia III said.

The roadway was closed for several hours.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 559-621-7000.
