Big Brother’s Most Pivotal Vote Yet Leads to a Tense Eviction — Plus, a Jury Twist!

Cameron’s previous turn as Big Brother‘s Head of Household was ultimately a waste, thanks to the Power of Invincibility. So, this time around, he’s making sure it counts.

After winning last week’s HOH competition to a hilariously muted reaction from the others, Cameron has successfully planted seeds of chaos in the house, namely by nominating Izzy and Felicia — two of this season’s three puppet masters — for eviction. Since then, secrets have been spilled, Felicia has actually spilled during the topsy-turvy Power of Veto competition, and Cameron has been watching with glee while it all unfolds. The Big Brother house has essentially been Mean Girls‘ North Shore High School, and Cameron is Regina George watching her classmates discover the Burn Book.

Let’s break down how this messy week concluded, shall we?

THE STRATEGY | Following Jared’s decision not to use the Power of Veto, it appears Felicia will be walking out the door on Eviction Night. But first… how does a vote flip sound? It sounds great to America, at least, who is eager to seize the opportunity to evict Izzy and isn’t sure why others are so hesitant to do it. America chats with Cameron about the upcoming eviction, and during that conversation, she reveals that Cameron was actually Jared’s intended target last week, not Red, and Cameron begins to realize why Jared didn’t want Cirie to be a replacement nominee this week: “Jared works for Cirie,” he says. Well, that’s one way to put it.

From there, a whole lotta exhilarating dominoes fall: Cory learns that he isn’t as closely aligned with Cirie as he previously thought, because Cirie never told Cory that she played in the Power of Invincibility competition two weeks ago, but she did tell Matt. So, Cory’s on board to cause Cirie a little pain and boot Izzy. Then Jag’s on board, after discovering that Izzy blabbed to Cory about the existence of the Seven Deadly Sins alliance (of which Jag was a member). Then Bowie’s on board. Then Mecole’s on board. Then Matt’s maybe on board. To quote the wise words of Jag: The game is gaming!

THE EVICTION | Of course, it’s always hard to know if a vote flip will truly stick, and those who keep up with Big Brother‘s live feeds may know that a whole lot of revealing conversations were held today ahead of the live broadcast, possibly jeopardizing America and Cory’s plan to get Izzy out. But when it comes time for the houseguests to vote, they do opt to evict Izzy; Cirie, unsurprisingly, casts the sole vote for Izzy to stay, and it’s an 8-1 ouster.

Izzy, for her part, makes her feelings on the vote flip quite clear. When Cameron goes in to give her a hug — both of them still wearing their Piggy Pals get-ups, mind you — she pushes him away and remarks, “Oh, no. I’ll be seeing you soon, pig.” (!) “Class act,” he retorts. Then, Izzy also refuses a hug from Cory and tells him, “You, too, pipsqueak.” (!!)

In her post-game interview, a misty-eyed Izzy tells Julie Chen Moonves that she indeed feels most betrayed by Cory, with whom she now feels she had “a strong friendship that clouded some of my judgment.” In his goodbye message to Izzy, Cory apologizes and says he simply can’t trust Cirie and Jared — and Izzy, by extension — anymore, but Izzy doesn’t seem comforted at all by his explanation.

THE HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD COMPETITION | Before this week’s HOH competition gets underway, Julie has an important announcement: This season, Big Brother is going back to its former approach of a seven-person jury instead of a nine-person jury, meaning there are now two more evictees who will simply be going home instead of heading to jury. And they’ll both be going home in one week, actually: It’s a double eviction next Thursday!

In the meantime, everyone except Cameron is competing in Big Brother‘s classic “wall competition,” in which players must cling to a constantly tilting backdrop until only one of them is left standing. By the time credits roll on the live episode, everyone is still valiantly holding on. To the live feeds we go! (Update: Find out who won!)
