An all-female flight crew recently landed a plane in Saudi Arabia — a country that forbids women from driving.

The flight took place on Feb. 23 and was operated by Royal Brunei Airlines. At the helm were Captain Sharifah Czarena, Senior First Officer Sariana and Senior First Officer Dk Nadiah.

The airline posted an image on Facebook of the three smiling women in the cockpit, along with a caption explaining that they were the first ever all-female trio to command a flight for Royal Brunei Airlines. Their destination was Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The tiny state of Brunei isn’t exactly a bastion of human rights — the country implemented Islamic sharia law in 2014, and one can be imprisoned for homosexuality, having an abortion and consuming alcohol, reports The Daily Mail.

Saudi Arabia’s strict religious laws prohibit women from getting behind the wheel, something that is allowed in Brunei.

The three trailblazers at the controls of that flight weren’t the only female pilots to make headlines in recent weeks. Air Canada operated flights with all female crews to celebrate Women of Aviation Worldwide Week, which took place during the week of March 8.
