Would-be burglar falls asleep during robbery

After some yelling, police awoke Cristian Villarreal-Castillo and cuffed him

When Shannon Patton woke up on Friday morning she found someone sleeping on her kitchen floor just outside of Portland, Ore.

The man, Cristian Villarreal-Castillo, was asleep in the fetal position and wearing pantyhose with his pants crumpled up next to him, according to KPTV. He had apparently taken his pants off to defecate on the floor.

So what was Villarreal-Castillo doing sleeping on a random woman's floor? Police believe he broke into her apartment looking for items to steal and they are not sure why he fell asleep in the act, but Patton believes he was drunk.

Patton called police and when they arrived, they told her to wait on the porch.

"I heard him (an officer) yell, 'Washington County Sheriffs, let me see your hands.'" Patton said to KPTV. "But he had to yell it like four times before the guy finally woke up."

According to a Sheriff's office statement, the would-be burglar was in possession of many other stolen items, including portable GPS units and other electronics. He has now been connected with another robbery that took place a few hours before he was arrested and police believe the stolen items were taken from unlocked cars.

Villarreal-Castillo has been charged with two counts of burglary, attempted theft, trespassing and criminal mischief. Police say more charges are pending as the investigation continues.
