Police in Melbourne, Florida didn't have to search long after they responded to an alarm at a pharmacy on Monday morning: the suspect fell from the ceiling and landed right at their feet.

WFTV.com reported an alarm brought police to CVS Pharmacy at about 1:30 a.m. on Monday, and when they arrived, they heard noises from above before a masked man fell from a hatch above their heads.

Surveillance footage later showed a man with a ski mask and gloves searching for prescription drugs with a flashlight, then turning on the store lights, according to WFTV.

Police arrested 28-year-old Alex David McBride, who was on probation.

A similar incident took place across the pond this weekend in Birkenhead, U.K. Staff at a bargain liquor store found a suspected burglar unconscious on the floor, surrounded by ceiling rubble, at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Liverpool Echo. In this case, however, police said the man had entered through the ceiling on purpose after he broke into an empty apartment above the liquor store, cut through the carpet and pulled up floorboards.

But he fell through the hole rather than climbing through it, the Echo reported, and the tumble left the drunk man unconscious.

He was charged with trespassing and intent to steal.
