Citrus 1, dogs 0 in video compilation of canines reacting to the bitter fruits

Dogs may have an enemy more fierce than cats. It's a bitter and powerful opponent known as citrus. And they hate it.

Some products use citrus to keep dogs out of gardens and away from furniture, but Tastefully Offensive has used it as a form of entertainment in this video compilation of dogs encountering their orange, lemon, lime and grapefruit enemies.

The fruit sends most of them into a frenzy.

The video has more than 230,000 views on YouTube.

Dramatic canine reactions have made viral videos before, such as the sensation Ultimate Dog Tease from 2011, by Canadian voice actor Andrew Grantham.

More recently, Grantham voiced a video of a dog begging for a kitten.

A recent poll found that one in five Americans prefer to spend time in the company of their pets than with people, according to National Geographic.

In addition, a total of 52 per cent of respondents said they preferred dogs as pets, 21 per cent said they like cats better and the remaining 27 per cent were unsure.

When choosing a more exotic pet, 18 per cent of those asked said they wanted a dinosaur.
